Weight loss up date and new measurements

well it's been a while since i've blogged but i've been a tad bit busy with Gangshow etc but i'm happy to say the weight is still coming off. I currently weight 164lb which is a total loss of 22lb so only approx 31lb to go if i decide that i want to get to 9 1/2 stone but i may stop at 9stone 10lb which was my weight before I'd had Georgina.
Measurements are as follows
Waist = 36" (total loss of inches = 4 3/4" )
Hip = 41 3/4" (total loss of inches = 5 1/4")
Bust = 42 3/4" (total loss of inches = 4 1/4 )
Thigh = 24" (total loss of inches = 1" )
Arm = 12" (total loss of inches = 1 1/4" )

that gives me a total loss of inches all over of 16" OMG!!!!!!

The only problem is i'm down to 2 pairs of jeans that fit lol but i'm not buying any more because i've got oodles of pairs of size 14's in the loft and i love every pair!!!!

No weightloss this week

but i'm not worried. I drank a vat of wine with Dave at the weekend so didn't really expect to lose. However i did start my leap group on tuesday and i've got a good feeling about it :0)

There were lots of lovely people there and we met the lady who's organising our fitness hour. Starting with Circuits next week but they are tailored to your ability. I've told her i can't do full jacks and it's nothing to do with my ability to do them but rather the lack of ability of my pelvic floor!!!

I've been a good girl so far since then and am making a note of what i eat but think i may need to update my calorie counting book. I'm still struggling with the 3 portions of dairy they are telling me i have to eat but i'm trying!

We also set out weekly goal which for me was to use my stepper for 20 mins every other day and so far i've managed to keep to it (infact i went over it on wed by 5 mins). The reward i've set myself is £5 into a kitty for new clothes. By the end of the 12 week course i may have £60 if i've been a good girl and stuck to my goals. Which reminds me i must go and do my stepper before I become glued to the sofa lol

2lb loss since friday

I've had to bring my weigh in day forward by a couple of days as my new leap group starts on tuesday evening next week so i thought i'd still do my morning weigh in on a wed morning (i like knowing how much i weight with out my clothing on lol)

2lb loss this week brings me to my first stone loss. To celebrate i went to Asda to buy a new jumper and ended up buying a cardi and a new top and for the first time in 12 months i've bought a size 18 and not a 20. I'm just a tad bit chuffed :0)

Yup only 2 more lb to go and i've lost a stone which is a good feeling i can tell you. I slowed down this week (only lost 1/2lb) but it's still a loss. Since i last blogged i've been back to my dr and he's put me on something called Xenical (Orlistat) which hinders the absorbsion of around 1/3 of the fat i eat. It's a motivational booster and the side effects that it can cause is making me really look at what i eat fat wise which for me is a good motivational tool. I'm pleased to say that i've only had one instance of seeing the side effects and that was on day 3 of taking them. Since then i've been very very good lol. I also have to take a Vit tablet once a day because you absorb Vit E via fat so i add more into my diet with the vit tablet. Not a bad thing really as i need to take a multi vit anyways to help boost my immune system.

Finally i've got Alex to take some photos (so this is me 12lb lighter than when i started). They are not flattering at all (the whole purpose of them is to inspire me to lose more weight)

i still have another 39lb to go to get to the weight i want to be but i'm going to take progress piccies every month from now on so the next ones will be on the 16th March. Also a week today i start the Leap group on a tuesday night which includes an exercise class but i do have something to keep me active more now anyways. Meet the stepper lol

On the knitting front i'm spending half term looking for half finished projects to either frog or finish. I'm not starting any larger projects as i can't see the point in knitting stuff in a larger size that i'm going to need in the end (yup i'm that determined). I have yarn set aside for certain projects but will wait till i've hit goal weight before embarking on them. In the meantime i'm knitting a shawl for myself to keep me warm in the winter made from babylonglegs yarn (will post piccies later) and i'm going to finish off 3 hats lol.

i'm knackered...............even too tired to spin and only just awake enough to knit something simple. I'm currently working from 7.15am because one of my coworkers is off sick and then at 1.30 i go over to the juniors to cash up and do their banking paperwork. i'm shattered by the time i finish.
On a good note the money will come in handy as the car is broke (well the wipers are) but i've found somewhere that does the diagnostics cheaper than the Research garage on London road :0)
It does mean i've been walking to work and tbh my foot is now killing me but i may use some of the lottie medicine later in the form of red or white ;0).

Hopefully my coworker will be back next week as will the lady from the juniors (wed onwards we think) so i can concentrate on my kitchen lol

Weight loss this week

ok so i'm starting this group on a tuesday in February but i'm going to carry on with my friday weigh in till then and then i'll post my new weight on a tuesday on my blog :0)

So i got on the scales on friday morning and they showed my weight at 12stone 12lb which means a loss of 4lb!!! WOOHOOOOOOOO

i've still not got round to getting Alex to take a photo of me but i will get it done this week and stick it on here ready for a new photo in February. New measurements will be taken on 1st February.

On the work front this week i'm having to walk to work in case it rains because the windscreen wipers are knackered on the car. I'm ok walking there but i do get a lift home because i'm finishing in my kitchen at 1pm and going to the Juniors to work there till 2.45pm. Lucky for me i get to sit down at the juniors as i'm on the till and then do the cashing up. I'm managing to walk about 5 miles a day at the moment and, since the walking to work isn't doing too much to my foot i'll keep going even after the cars mended but possibly not every day.

LEAP

I've had a letter back from the Leicestershire Nutrition and Dietetic Service and they will be running an evening group session on a tuesday night (called Leap) as from 23rd feb (and it's in walking distance of my house). These sessions include the weigh in, then an hours talk and then an hours exercise :0) and it's free!!!!!!I'm also going to see a dietitian separately about managing my lactose intolerance :0).

I'm also just finished my 3rd day at work (but only my 2nd day cooking) and did find it hard today not to taste my ginger biscuits and bread and butter pudding. Thing is it doesn't look right if i take a bite, chew and the spit it out pmsl. Tomorrow is chocolate haystacks (YUMMY) and i'm going to find that sooooooooooooooo hard not eat one lol.

I did have to cancel cubs tonight because the roads and pavements are sooooooooo icy so i decided it wasn't a good idea! I do need to send round lots of messages as it's our coffee morning on saturday at church.

thats all for today as i'm going to have a glass of wine (and yes it's in my daily food allowance)and knit for a bit

Well just a little update. I'm getting on ok so far. No major cravings but i've struggled to eat all the stuff i'm supposed to.

Listing what i'm eating on http://www.sparkpeople.com and that means you list all the carbs, sugar, protien and calories etc and it gives you a guide like of how much of each you need to eat a day.

It's Crunch Time

184lb (83.5kg) and i'm only 5 ft 2" and that gives me a BMI of 34 which as we all know is not good at all. My measurements are as follows
Bust = 47"
Hips = 47"
Waist= 40 6/8"
left upper arm = 13 2/8"
Left Thigh = 25"

these measurements show just how big i am now and i'm really not happy with my size.

And whats my goal you may all ask well that's simple it's to weigh less than 184lb lol. Seriously though it's to weigh no more than 156lb by 28th August 2010. It's doable. 28lb in 34 weeks which is less than 1lb a week.

Hello 2010 (well nearly)

Well then folks i know i'm a very lax blogger, no excuse really but hey i'm a busy lady (on facebook pmsl). Well it's that time of year again and tomorrow is New Years Eve. We're staying in again with our friends and their kids tomorrow night and will watch Jules Holland again and sup a bit of wine :0) a nice relaxing evening and we don't have to worry about getting home in the cold and wet at the end of the night.

Now i've already started on my "wants" for 2010. I've written a christmas knitting list that i'll start on in January but that's not my main want next year. I'm currently around 4 stone over weight for my height. I have a BMI of 34 and my cholesterol 2 years ago was 5.5. I'll be 40 on 31st August 2010 and i really don't want to be 13 stone and 40. So today i went to see my Dr, ok i need to see him anyway to be signed back to work but hey may as well talk to him about my weight whilst i was there lol. He's referring me to a dietitian to help me sort out my diet along with my lactose intolerance.

So what i've decided is that on New Years Day i will get up in the morning and weigh myself. Then i will get dressed and Dave is going to take a photo of me and i'm going to start blogging my progress. Ok so i'm not going to blog what i eat every day (i'm going to log that on sparkpeople) but i am going to blog my feelings as i try to eat a healthy diet and lose some of these excess lb's.

On a knitting note i gained a book for christmas called "2 at a time socks" from my mum and pops :0)

Off i went hunting round the house for my 100mm cable (finally found my 120mm cable) and my 3.5mm tips in order to start on the test sock which looked like this this morning....

Well i finished them earlier today and will donate them to someone with a toddler (livi there is some pink in them so poss not a good idea for Jude lol). I'll take piccies of the finished article tomorrow as well as a photo of my Olivia High Twist Socks.

Here is hoping that 2010 will bring me a slim year in terms of fat lol and that everyone has a Happy and Healthy 2010

Just a little post this time about friends.

Now because I've had my op I'm going to be off my feet for some time yesterday i asked Kerry (picklesmum on rav and on mumsonline) to come and sit with me for a bit as I'd had a General A on Friday and Dave had gone to football taking Alex with him (i told him to still go as that way i wouldn't have to listen to my girls argue all day lol).

Kerry came round and sat with me, well i say sat, in reality she didn't sit that much as she washed up, wiped my cooker top and my grill pan, made me lots of cups of tea and a much appreciated fish finger sandwich. However we did manage to sit and knit a few rows/rounds and had a jolly good chat.

Then there was Olivia.
Now for those of you who don't know me that well I'm lactose intolerant and therefore drink lactofree milk in my tea and on my cereals. So me being so organised would have lots in ready since they don't' sell it in the corner shop and i can no longer "nip" to tesco or asda to get some. Well yes your right, I'm not organised, never will be that organised as it's just not me lol. Now Olivia had already text me asking if i needed anything so i asked her to get me some senokot liquid from town (ready to combat a side effect of one of my painkillers). Luckily for me (but unlucky for her DS1) Olivia has lactofree milk at home too so i text and with in 10 min's she was round with a carton for me so i could again enjoy lots of cups of tea. She'd also offered to come and pick me up at the hospital if they had kept me in over night bless her when i know her kidlets were a bit stressed.

Then there is Sarah, who has dyed me up some scrummy yarn ready for me to collect on Thursday. It's in her 'Olivia' colour way in a high twist yarn and I'm sooooooooooooooooooo looking forward to squishing it on Thursday.

My MIL also popped round yesterday to make sure i had everything i needed bless her. She's such a lovely person and she's also got a poorly DH at the moment so i wasn't expecting her to pop round at all. My Mum also came to pick Georgie up and take her to her riding lesson for me and has offered to do the same for me next week and take me for my plaster appointment in 2 weeks time.

What I'm trying to say is that i didn't realise just how many friends i had until Friday/Saturday. I've had so many offers of help and texts asking how i am and what can they do for me that it's floored me a bit. Yesterday my phone went off that many times with text message that i had to change the alert to a click because i never got to finish a sentence with Kerry lol.

So my main reason for this post today is to say

My Left Foot

Well it's 5.04am on an October Sunday morning and i can't sleep because I'm in pain so i thought I'd catch up on my blog for a change lol. I'm off my feet for a while as I've had my bunion removed from my left foot and my toe joint realigned at the same time. Now my lovely bunion hasn't been caused by wearing ill fitting shoes or high heels, in fact i wear heels about as often as i wear a frock!!!! No, these bunions have been handed down to me in my genes via my mother. THANKS MUM!!!!!!

this is what it looked like before i went in on Friday to have it done (ignore the hairy toe lol)

and this is what I've come home with it looking like

under the bandage is some plaster and a hell of a lot of pain (hence why I'm awake at this time)

Last night i managed the grand total of 2 hours kip so today I'm going to ring the out of hours Dr to see if they can give me any better painkillers as all i have at the moment is 500mg Paracetamol, 400mg of Ibuprofen and 30mg of Codeine and even if i take 2 together it's not even touching the pain.

My toes on show are just starting to go purple now lol (good job i like purple).

I can cope with most things and generally have a good pain threshold but I'm struggling with this. I think it's the lack of sleep thing. I can cope so much better with sleep.

However, for all my moaning about pain etc I'd still have this done as the pain from my bunion was horrid too and it was stopping me from enjoying the things i normally enjoy like camping and walking. Wearing hiking boots on camp and for walking were just so painful. I'm also on my feet for most of the day so by the end of it, even though i wear crocs all the time, the damn thing hurt. It was when it started waking me in the night as it was aching that i decided to get it done.

One good thing to come out of yesterday though is this :-

i started this ages ago (when i went to get my spinning wheel from the Threshing Barn) but like a lot of my projects it was hidden away in a project bag waiting to be picked up again. In fact I'm taking the opportunity of this enforced rest to finish a few of my WIP's before starting anything new!

After all that i had a days rest and then ended up clearing out the shed yesterday with the help of Grandma. I hate spiders so hence why Grandma came to help. 2 trips to the tip later and my shed is now tidy and has less crap in it.

Next on the agenda is our bedroom which is soooooooooo messy i'm too embarrassed to take photos of it lol

OMG it's been so long since i've blogged and i've been to 2 weddings and 2 cub camps since then pmsl. This will have to be a pictureless blog today as my i used my mums camera for my sisters and my bil's wedding and Cub camp number 2

Lets start with my sisters wedding. My sister , Nichola Hazel Katherine Clark, married a Mr Toby Kinton on 18th April 2009 at Peterhead Registery Office. Thanks to Toby, who treated me to the air fare, i flew up on the 17th to spend the night before the wedding with my sister. The wedding it'sself was lovely and i got to meet some really nice people :0. I flew home on the sunday evening after being taken out to lunch by my father with my sister and BIL. I did have a long wait at the airport for my flight home but i spent that time reading and relaxing which was great!

After the wedding came District Cub and Scout camp. This was held over 3 days and was a very very busy camp with lots of activities for all the kids including a "Hinckley's got Talent Contest" which both my girls entered. The final was on the saturday night and i'm very proud to say that Georgina came 2nd in the cubs section and Alex came first in the Scout section and was overall winner.

right that will have to do for now as i've got to sort my cherubs out to go to school

no not blocking knitting but blocking in a fireplace in my kitchen. This morning i had this in my

kitchen . It takes up rather a lot of room and all that happens is dirt falls down it onto the floor

But as Luck would have it i have a friend who is also a brickie so he's been round today and done all this.

just got to wait for it all to dry then he's going to put a skim coat on it and then i can strip the rest of the kitchen walls and get decorating. Tis only been 4 years since we put most of the kitchen in!

These all belong to Alex and they are Stick Insects. Like snakes they have to shed their skins as they grow and when we first had them (i got them at the same time as we got Scales) they were less than an inch long. Now they are coming on for 2" long each and there are 4 of them in total. Soon they will be old enough to breed so we'll have lots of babies to give away hopefully lol.

At long last i have some piccies of Georgie holding Scales. Scales actually belongs to Georgie and not me but most of the time you wouldn't think that lol. Scales is very very fast so she made Georgie nervous to start with but she's getting to 'grips' with her now lol. Funny really since she's happy to have a huge Boa round her shoulders lol.

Welcome to 2009

Happy New Year to all my friends.

Now i'm not going to start this years blog with a list of resolutions as i don't do resolutions but i am going to start with a list of what i'd like to try to achieve this coming year. I'm going to try NOT to set myself goals that i can't even possibly achieve but feel free to tell me if you think i'm fooling myself on what i think i could do this year.

1) Lose 49lb. Ok so i'd like to lose this by may as we are going to Cyprus but that's only 2o weeks away so i'd be happy to of lost half of that 24lb is a more realistic goal i think for may but would still see me at a healthier bmi than i am now. My BMI is currently 33 EEK.

2) To be tidier. You can stop laughing Sarah and Olivia!!!!! Now i've been saying the same thing for years, that i want to gut my house from top to bottom and declutter. But the difference this year is i've no overlocker in the dining room and haven't got cupboards full of fabric so it could happen. But i'm not saying "i want to gut my house" i'm saying i want to be more tidy. Means i need to learn to put things away and allocate things a home!

3) To spin or knit for an hour at least 4 times a week. I tend to forget me time and i do tend to overextend myself too. I need to finish a few projects before starting new ones too.

4) Not to over extend myself. Say no more often which i'm slowly beginning to do.

5) To get rid of this sodding cold lol

there you go. not too hard really and all are doable :0)

I'm looking forward to this year. We have a holiday in Cyprus to look forward to and 2 cub camps. Woolfest and a 7 week summer holiday :0)

Job Update

I started a new job a week last monday.

Now i've been a school food assistant since October 2007 after working for Morrisons for 3 years (which i hated). When i first tried to get out of Morrisons i applied for a Cook Supervisors Job at Westfield Infant school but didn't get it. I stuck it out at Morrisons and was all set to stay when the School Food Area Manager rang me to see if i wanted an assistants job which i jumped at. I've loved my year there but always want to better myself so when i knew the job at the infants was up for grabs again i grabbed at it AND GOT IT!!!

So i started on the 8th december just in time to cook 255 christmas dinners on the 16th lol. I'm really enjoying it so far lol. Mind you i've just broken up for Christmas now so no work for me until 5th January 2009!

Goodbye Cleo

As some of you already know we lost our dog on Friday 12th December. After lots of soul searching we decided that it would be best for her to be put to sleep. We had had Cleo for over 15 years and when she died she was 17!!

This is a photo of Cleo which was taken a few years ago (when she could still get on the sofa!) She's beautiful and i really do miss her. Life seems very strange without her now.

Meet Scales

Scales is a new addition to the family since last Saturday. She is approx 8 months old and is currently living in her new Vivarium in mine and Daves bedroom BUT she actually belongs to Georgina!

She is a Western Hognose snake and (hopefully on Thursday) eats 2 pinkies a week. We have handled her a few times for a minute or two at a time each day but won't be handling her Thurs evening through to Sunday as she'll hopefully eat Thursday night and it's best not to handle them when they've eaten for a couple of days.

she is slightly venomous but it's akin to a bee sting and if we handle her enough and nicely enough she should get used to us (touch wood) and therefore not feel scared enough to strike

ENT appointement results

ok ok i've not blogged in a while, in fact it's been bloody ages and today's blog has really been prompted by my trip to ENT.

This all started in September when i had a rather nasty viral ear infection which affected my balance and started a humming in my ears. Well it's not gone away so my Dr referred me to ENT where i went to today. There i had a hearing test and then went into see the consultant and after lots of prodding and poking in my ears and lots of wiggling of my jaw he said that my jaw hinge is in such a position that it pushes on my tubes by my ears which help them drain etc which doesn't help when i’m trying to get rid of a viral infection. Nothing they can do about that as they can’t reposition my jaw hinge!. However i do have a nasal spray to help with the swelling so that the pipework can open up a bit more than it is as these are swollen internally and therefore causing more blockages.

The major bad news is that i’m also losing my hearing in both ears and again there is nothing they can do about that. I will need hearing aids in the next 10 years but it could be in 2 or could be in 10 years. There is no way of telling how much scar tissue is going to build up over what period of time. It's a bit of a bummer when your only 38.

One good thing though. If i want to i can ignore someone and have a proven excuse pmsl

Sockfest!!!!!!

Well August has been a month of either starting and finishing socks or finishing a pair that I've had on the go for nearly 12 months. Lets start with my Embossed Leaves Socks. Now i got the book last year in September (a birthday present from my mother and step dad which took a week or two longer to arrive than expected). The book is called Favorite Socks (just click on the link. The yarn i used was given to me by KraftyKoala and dyed especially for me as a one off treat as i was having one of my "moments". So i cast it on and knitted up the first sock, not a problem till second sock syndrome hit and i just couldn't face knitting it. Anyways to cut a long story short i finally picked it back up nearly 11 months later and finished it at the beginning of this month so the finished product looks like this.

Next i embarked on a pair of socks for Georgie. Her first pair of hand knitted socks that she chose the yarn for at the Hobbycraft thingie at the NEC. As they are small and just knit stitch then i managed to get them done at a super speed and she loves them. They are made from Regia 4py and they are now called Griffindor Socks.

Next i decided to ignore my "Lotties Desire" which is hidden away from sight and used up some of my sock yarn stash in the drawer upstairs. So using a pattern from a supplement i received with Knit Today in the spring i set about making the Check Mate socks using Opal 6ply tiger yarn. I've shortened the cuff on the socks as i hate long cuffs unless they are over the knee socks to be honest. Well again I've managed to knit these up rather quickly and they look like this.

And now to the last pair I've been knitting this month, and no I've not finished them YET! We still have another 6 days left in August so you never know lol. However, i do go back to work tomorrow. I'm using Stashed sock yarn again. This time it's Lorna's Laces in Black Pearl colourway. I bought this around 12 months ago from Get Knitted. The Pattern I'm using is called Nutkin and it's knitting up lovely. it's such an easy pattern that even Miffy could follow. But on the second sock I'm going to play with the heel as I'm not happy with a tiny bit of it lol. anyways so far it look like this

it's coming along nicely but i may cast on a pair of boot socks for Alex to try to get ready for district cub camp in September. I've also still got Vlora on the go and a dishcloth made from Peaches and cream that i get from Create and Knit. So far my stash of peaches and cream is growing quicker than i can actually knit it up so I'm going to start getting down to it and knitting up the washcloths for Christmas treats.

Wonder what September is going to bring. I'm still saving for my Lendrum which I'm hoping to afford by Christmas or, at the very latest, after Christmas. I'm doing well with Jess (my lovely borrowed ashford trad which babylonglegs youngest dh named for me lol). One thing is for certain I'll be back into even numbers for my age!

OMG doesn't time fly when your having fun. And yes i have been having fun! We went to Burnham on Sea for a weeks holiday and it was fantastic. We went to Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole and lots of other places too. I did have to stop myself from buying a Kaftan though !!!!! Thanks for the text Tilly!!!!

Unfortunately our camera is buggered so there are no piccies this year of our hols and i can't add many onto my blog at the moment until i can get the damn thing to work.

On the knitting front I've finished Georgie's cardi and it looks great. I've also got my second embossed leaves sock back out to finish before i can start knitting something with this:-
Fab isn't it! Tis a custom order from fyberspates that Cath at Create and Knit ordered for me and then called Lottie's Desire. Sarah likes it so much she's having some too but not to knit socks with lol. It's in my 3 fav colours and the purple is divine!!

Talking of Sarah, my PIL's took the girls to the space center yesterday so i had a day off lol. So off i went to Sarah's with Jessica (named by Joel) and some fibres and had a day spinning and knitting. It was so nice to sit and chat and spin or knit and just generally relax.

I've also been on a Leaders camp (last weekend) and had a fantastic time. I met leaders from other groups and even got 3/4 of the way up the climbing tower before hyperventilating and having to be slowly let down. Next year i'm determined to do it all as i never used to be scared of heights. We did lots of things like shooting and archery and then training things like paperwork etc but it was so much fun. Great to have a camp with out the kids which meant we could bring beer!!!! I was my usual quiet self after several beers pmsl. The down side to the weekend was my lovely bites on my legs. Those of you who know me know that i tend to react badly to bites and this time was no exception, so when i got home Sunday i went to the out of hours Dr's for AB's and they are still quite painful and itchy.

Georgie is looking forward to me finishing her second sock (which i've cast on already) which is sooooooooo bright

August is going to be busy too with me and the girls leaving my hubby for a week to go for our annual holiday to my sisters. We are off to legoland one day and the science museum another. Seems very odd having all this time off over the holidays but I'm loving it (most of the time).

Where has June gone

one minute it was just starting and the next it's near the end!! Mind you the end of June can mean only one thing... WOOLFEST!!! So I'm off up north on Friday straight after work, leaving my dh with the girls all weekend! Wish i could go up Thursday night but my job doesn't allow days off outside school holidays. Can't complain really since I'm about to have 6 1/2 weeks off (and I'm soooooooooo looking forward to it)

Like i said June has been busy. I spent last weekend at Fox Coverts with 27 cubs and some adults. Generally not caring that it was raining on the Saturday and having lots of fun! I managed to get some kids to do stuff they have never done before and we all had a good time (i hope). I have another camp booked in September which I'm looking forward to as that one will be district camp and there will be loads of other groups there. It's a great time to catch up with other leaders. Mind you i can do that in July on the leaders camp lol.

On the knitting front I've been mostly spinning. I got some coloured roving in the post and have since made this.

thing is my wheel is borrowed so I'd like one of my own. Since I'm off to woolfest on Friday i can try lots of different sorts of wheels whilst I'm there and then choose which one i want. That way I'll know how much i need to save to buy my own. I'm going to be asking for cash for my birthday and Christmas presents lol.

I went to Sarah's today and I've done this

this is me spinning, after many hideous breakages at home Sarah has shown me how to spin without breaking and therefore making a continuous strand. What you can't see is my lace weight yarn which i started spinning. I had problems to start with doing anything with bulk in it but got there in the end.

Two bobbins later and I'm now on Sarah's Louet and I'm plying for the first time ever. I still have a tendency to over spin now and again but it's going well at this point!
And the result is this:-
My very own very first plyed homespun yarn and god do i feel so fucking proud of myself!

Well so far it's been a cracking weekend. Friday night i went to Rafters in Barwell to watch Babylonglegs dh's band play. It was a fantastic night and i had one to many pints of the black stuff me thinks. but the ultimate has to be..................

Saturday, It was a very very nerve racking day. For those of you who don't know i follow Hull City AFC as it's where my gramps came from etc. Yesterday was the play off finals for the Championship division and i was cacking myself for most of the day. Hull City AFC have never been in the top division in their entire history. I felt sick for most of the morning. Ended up digging the garden (oops but more about that later) till 2.15pm before going off down to the pub to watch Hull City V Bristol City.

Well i have no nails left on my let hand but did get a few texts from the landlord of the Weavers Arms (who was on holiday in Spain till last night) including one instructing the barman to buy me a pint. With the final score of Bristol City 0 Hull City 1 I was a tad bit excited and kind of screaming and crying at the same time.

We came home and i calmed down by watching a DVD (i am legend which was OK but the ending was a bit hurried i thought) but still felt sick after being so nervous all day.

Went to bed but for some odd reason couldn't sleep till 4am and then woke with hideous back ache which is my own fault (see digging garden bit) as I'm currently waiting to see a physio as I've got a trapped sciatic nerve. Sometimes i can be a great big twat!!!

Needless to say I've not made it to church today but i am hobbling round with a huge grin on my face and I'm a very very very happy bunny.

to be honest i've just been really busy. Even my sister says she's not seen me on MSN as much as normal. Got lots on at the moment and with the weather being so nice i've just wanted to slob out pmsl.

Had a Gangshow meeting yesterday and i'm now Treasurer of the Gangshow committee but don't have to touch any of the money thank goodness. Lots of positive things came out of the meeting including the new comittee and other things. Seems odd prepping for something that won't be done till 2010 but the whole thing takes one hell of preparing.

On the knitting front i'm still doing G's cardi which is in an earlier post and lots of dishcloths and i'll post piccies later

Race For Life

I've entered myself for the Race For Life which will be at Coombe Abbey on 9th July 2008.
As i've put on my fundraiser page i've been touched by cancer in my life several times. The first was the loss of my beloved Grandpa when i was 13 to Hodgkins Lymphoma. I lost my Taid (welsh granddad) to prostrate cancer when Alex was 1 and my friend Jane has had bowel cancer. I want to do this to help make it possible for people like my friend Jane to still be here and not be like my grandparents!

I did set a low fundraising target but i seem to of gone past that in my first day so let hope i can get many many more sponsors!!

Not blogged for a while i know

but there has been a reason. I've had gangshow rehearsals and then the actual show. That actually went ok which really surprised me to be honest. Mind you i opened this weeks Hinckley Times ,whilst sitting in piggies hollow eating a salad, and was ok will i got to the entertainment pages and nearly spat my ham across my table. There is something rather hideous about seeing myself in print wearing a huge white tent type garment and being hit by a spotlight!!

During the same week as Gangshow i also had 2 nappy open days which were organised by LCC. And what a waste of space they were. The one on the Thursday at Loughborough Town hall was abysmal. No one knew we were in there and the advertisement had been poor to say the least. Brock's Hill was slightly better on the Sunday but not much. At least i managed to finish off a load of quick dry hybrids for Angeltots, which Sarah added to her site yesterday at 2pm and sold out in around 5 or 6 hours. Makes me realise just how much people want my nappies!!!

This past week has been fab. We went over to Sarahs on Monday for a get together which i really enjoyed. Miffy made some delicious cakes which i really shouldn't of eaten but i did lol.

On the knitting front i picked up this last wed

i tried to have a play with some fibre yesterday but need to practice my treadling a bit more first before i have another go. Once i've got it then i'll see if i can get Sarah to dye me some fibres specially for me.

Talking of Sarah . How much of a star is she. She has been dying yarn this week and has made a new colour way.

and this is the blurb she has put with it which i have to admit bought a tear to my eye.

Busy Busy Busy..............

ok so i've been a bit lax in my blogging of late. I do have an excuse and that is i've been really really really busy. What with panto at the end of feb and gangshow rehearsals, lent groups and normal bible study groups i've not been home much at all.

Panto went really well and i think most people enjoyed it as they keep stopping me in the playground at school and in church saying "i didn't know you could sing, we really enjoyed it" Very hard work but i remember most of my lines in the end!

Gangshow rehearsals are still going but it's been cut to just 3 nights now. One of the reasons for poor ticket sales could be due to the price. They are £9 each with no concessions for kids or oaps and people just can't afford it. I'm not enjoying it really which is a shame but couldn't drop out as i have made a commitment so therefore can't.

Knitting wise all i've had time for is dishcloths which i've not taken piccies off yet but will soon. I've just started Clapotis using yarn dyed for me by babylonglegs.

As for the girls they are both doing fine. Georgie has the cute thing going on at the moment due to the loss of 2 teeth (well i think she looks cute!)

well that's it for now but i will add more laters as i keep knitting and doing other bits and bobs

EEEEEEEEEEEEK that means it's less than a month till Panto!!!! i've not actually got all my words in my head yet but i'm getting there. This month is going to be very, very busy what with the show and then gangshow rehearsals on top of that too. Things will quieten down after Easter thank goodness and then i get to go away for a couple of days, knitting with my mates!!

On a knitting note i've finished knitting my booga bag and have now got to felt it. Jo has sent me some more black 4ply so i can crack on with my balaclava and i kind of broke my stash diet but only because i got a £10 ebay voucher. I bought 20 balls of this:-

It's to make Cherie Amour for me. I've had to get more balls as it's yardage is less than the stuff she used for the pattern but i think 1000g is enough!!!!!!

On the weight loss front i'm on week 5 i think and i've lost 9lb so far. I'm cycling to and from work when i can and when i'm not going to get blown off and i try to walk everywhere else if i can.

Sewing front:- i've actually made some nappies and i have 2 open days coming up so i've got to get cracking and make up more nappies for those. I'm going to go into the fabric room tomorrow night after a meeting and do an inventory of what fabics i have. Oh and i've an order for some newborn nappies which are to be delived at the end of half term (11th to 15th feb here).

Last but not least i have new footwear...................and by heck are they comfy. I've only taken them off to go to bed!

Oh Fudge!!!!!

ARGH shouldn't of mentioned fudge, but i'm using that word instead of a more rude word beginning with F. And the reason for the fudge word, i want something sweet!!!!!!!
I'm back on weight watchers and have lost 5lb so far in 2 weeks but i'm craving something sweet at the moment but have nothing till my Tesco delivery arrives. Must stop myself from going to the shop and buying something completely unsuitable!!!!

To top it all off i'm going to be in an even worse mood when i get up tomorrow morning as i'm not allowed anything to eat or drink after 12 midnight tonight, which means NO COFFEE!!!!! (I'm feeling sorry for my girls already). The reason for this is i'm off for a cholestorel blood test, which is a fasting blood test. Straight to work after that so will have to figure out what i can take with me to eat for when i get out of the health centre.

On a better note i'm enjoying my food more and i'm still not drinking anything stronger than pepsi max. 5lb in 2 weeks has made me happy and i'm trying to use more energy by cycling to and from work when ever i can.

will update the knitting front when i can get my camera batteries to charge lol

Long time no blog!

Well it's that time of year. The excitement of Christmas has gone and it's back to school and work for us all. Unfortunately it's also now the time of year where i feel crap which i think is due to how bloody dark it is all day every day.

On the knitting front I've completed a hat for Georgie which looks like this (excuse the fact that her eyes are shut as the flash is rather bright!)

The next stash busting project I'm doing is a booga bag in my noro

so far so good but i had to order 6 1/2 mm shafts for my knitpicks so i could do it!

I also want to do this pattern using this yarn

This may all change though as it really needs to be thicker yarn and Babylonglegs has offered to dye up some of my undyed BFL for me in what ever colour i want.

However as I'm typing this she's also found this pattern on ravelry which would be ideal for me on my bike but she can still dye up my BFL pmsl!!!

Oh and before i forget I've lost 3lb in weight this week and am still dry (10 whole days so far pmsl)

New Year Whatnots

To be honest i don't do New Years Resolutions but i have set up some sort of want list for 2008. When i say want list i mean things i want to either improve or compleate by the end of 2008 or by the end of certain months.

knitting related i want to Destash as my yarn mountain is rather large and finish stuff i've already started. I have lots of chunky stuff to knit up hats for the girls and myself and i'm on a scarf for my fil and one for my mil. Then there are socks. I have 1 childs one which i'm halfway through the second sock but it won't fit any of my two now as i knitted it too tight. I have embossed leaves to finish (actually im on the foot of the second sock so not long). Then there is my anatomically correct toe sock of which i need to do the left foot (it is otp).

Other clothing wise, i have my mirtal which is a job and a half but also a way of inspiring me to loose the weight i need to loose so my destash includes my thickening waistline as well as my growing yarn mountain lol. Georgie will aslo want her green poncho this year so i'd best finish crocheting that up.

There is also the crochet blanket i started in the first place back in july 2005 when i first gave up smoking. That is one thing i want to finish and then give to my nain.

Like i said somewhere near my mirtal i've set myself a whole year to lose at least 21lb and may have a dry january but will have to wait and see on that one lol!! I also want to gut and declutter on room a month and keep it tidy and orgainsed so will need to retrain myself not to just dump stuff where i can. Must learn to put things away which is hard when you've been dumping stuff for 37 years.

think that may be enough wants for 2008 for changes wise apart from Hinckley United playing better and winning some games!

i got squishy in my fantastic stocking from Babylonglegs aka Sarah. Lets start from the beginning. We decided (we being me, Miffy, Babylonglegs, Sasha and Sarah M) to do a stock swap this year and i gave to Sasha and Babylonglegs gave to me. Well my stocking was Fantastic

Oh Fudge!!!!!

Well it's that time of year again where lots of things go wrong lol. So far this week i've lost my wallet. Luckly for me i'd taken out my credit card but i've had to cancel my switch cards etc and i've lost my warrent card (cub leader warrent) but no money thank goodness. Then to top it off my home phone isn't working. I don't know if it's the phone or the line as i've got no dial tone. Now it's been playing up anyways but i was hoping to last until after christmas before buying a new phone but think i'll have to sort something out.

As for christmas knits, well i'd had all these wonderful plans and have i done them, have i heck!!! I've done my sisters and her dp's and then i've done a scarf for my mother and i'm doing another scarf for my step dad as stocking fillers.

kids wont' get their scarfs till after new year at this rate but then they dont want them as a christmas present anyways lol.

A good note is that i break up a week today for christmas and it will be the first time since being on maternaty leave, after having Georgina in 2000, that i've not worked christmas. I'm looking forward to it!

right enough waffle for now. Will get round to posting a piccie of all my christmas knits and stuff another day

It's a Busy Month!!!!

Well it's November which means Georgie had her birthday last saturday (17th) and AJ's is next tuesday (27th). So we've had a party for Georgie and AJ is going bowling with Uncle M and Jen and the rest of us on 1st Jan (i think lol). Anyways they have both been very very excitable this month so far!

Then at the end of this week sees the start of AJ's carol concerts with school choir. Lots of places for her to be over the next few weeks. Added to that the girls have started Panto rehearsals (but not on the same day as me) so have that every tuesday evening.

AJ and myself have also signed up for Gangshow 2008 so we have rehearsals every sunday (now that i no longer work sundays) and i'm also in the same panto as the girls but my rehearsals are on wed. I have lead role (i'm the wicked queen you know!) but i'm not actually the baddie!

Monday will see me going to visit my lovely foot dr and i can hopefully be discharged then so i can sign back up to go and give a pint of my best red stuff!!!

It also seems be to a month where friends who i've not seen online for ages seem to of reappeared. Nice to have you back Sinead. But then there is aslo a downside to my new job and thats that i'm really missing MiffyRabbit and my other friends. I will get to meet up with Miffy on saturday i hope!!

Now as for my christmas knits i've finished my sister bf's scrapper and her scarf (got a fab necklace for her too) and i'm going to finish my fairy for the christmas tree festival as soon as i get back from work tomorrow (she just needs arms and legs and hair!). Then i just have the odd few things to get or finish for my family for christmas. Hopefully they will be done in time hehe.

Right enough of my drivel have fun and i'll see you all in december if not before.

Happy Days are Here Again

well it's over a week since i blogged last and what a week it's been.

Tuesday saw my last shift at Morrison's. Everyone was fab and none of my work mates wanted me to leave. In fact the only one who we think was happy was B as she hates me because i won't let her bully me. I came home with fluffy pig slippers, fluffy socks, Guinness, a knitting mag and some green and blacks choccie!! Bless them they were really sweet to me.

So then i had the rest of the week off with my girlie's who were on half term with visits from Sarah M, Sasha and Livi with kids in tow on the wed. I like these meet ups as i love having my friends round me.

Saturday was spent helping at mini market at church and then off to Tesco's with Georgie.. We went to the Rioch Arena Tesco's and it took me over 2 hours to do a £60 shop. It is HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunday 28th was an important day for me. It was the day i was confirmed and became a member at my church. A very emotional service for me but having Olivia there made it perfect. On Sunday evening the Rev Julie rang me to wish me luck in my new job which i started on Monday. I found that very moving and i started properly at school in the kitchen yesterday. I've worked 2 days now and it's great. Such a small group of people and everyone is so friendly.

I did go into Morrison's last night to take my uniform back and have a leaving interview. This basically was an opportunity for me to put in writing exactly what my department manager has been like for the past 10 months and what i think is wrong within the department. OK so it probably won't make any difference what so ever but if more than one person has the same problems as me then it's already there in black and white on the system. It still gets to me that i lost a friend somewhere around February time when she basically lost the plot with reality and the ability to manage anything. I've been very fortunate that lots of people have prayed for me, to help me through the stress I've had with her but I've actually found myself praying for her, that she can find what she needs within herself to become the calm, rational and genuinely lovely person she used to be rather than the whinging, coniving, lying, nasty little bitch she has become.

I now have a whole disc of piccies kindly transferred from slides to disc by my step dad for me (thanks Pops) but this one just struck me as just right to blog given that i hate despicable nappies with a vengeance.

WooHoo and it's good by to Morrisons at 6pm Tuesday 23rd October 2007!

The reason for this is that i had a phone call a couple of weeks ago from a lady who is area manager for local school catering services. Back in June i went for an interview at a local school as a cook supervisor but unfortunately didn't get it. Anyways this lady rang me and asked if I'd be interested in one at the Junior side of the same school.

I went in on Monday to shadow the lady who is leaving and then had an interview with the area manager, unit manager and the deputy headmistress on Wed morning at 9.30am. By 10.30am I'd handed in my notice at Morrisons and was feeling on top of the world.

I've had some major problems at work over the past 10 months all due to one persons attitude and behaviour towards me. Even now she is being very very childish but I'm past giving a shit to be honest.

My new job as cook/general assistant starts after half term (29th October) and is term time only, Monday to Friday during school hours. My girls were well chuffed to say the least as mummy will be at home at the weekend and every evening (ish).

It is a drop in income but it will give me more time to make up my lovely Stuffies and more time at home with the girls and their dad. It also means that as well as drama group panto i'll now be rehearsing for the District Scouting Gang Show with AJ on a Sunday afternoon till next March

Only 7 more hours left to work at Morrisons and then i'm out of there :0)

Found My Mojo

my sewing mojo that is. Some of you my know that i make my own design and brand of cloth nappy called a Stuffie(TM) hence why this blog is called Lottie's knitting and STUFF lol. Anyways i seem to of lost my passion for making my lovely nappies for ages and for the life of me i couldn't understand why.

Then it came to me. When I'm happy in my work outside the home then i tend to want to work at home when i get there and to be honest i currently work for M and hate every sodding minute of it.

I've been trying to get out of there so in June i went to a local school for an interview as a cook supervisor but didn't get the job. HOWEVER i had a phone call (2 weeks ago) from the lady who runs the school catering services in my area asking me if I'd be interested in a lower position at the junior side of the same school. I went in last Monday to meet the staff and see the kitchen etc and I'm actually going in to work there on Monday and wed of this week. I have an interview with the Headmistress of the school on wed at 9.30am so fingers crossed i may be able to leave M sooner rather than later.

This has put me in a very happy and good mood (I've got lots of friends saying extra prayers on wed for me and friends who are not that comfy with prayers are touching lots of wood lol) so my mojo has come back.

So yesterday i cut out and made this lot (bottom left of the cupboard were premade)
This box is full of hemp fleece for soakers and boosters and at the bottom are some floral terry panels for hybrids which i make for Babylonglegs.

this lot are all size 2 terry panels all with a soaker and booster.

This cupboard has the bottom shelf full of finished stuffies. The top shelf is home to my size 3's.

Today I'm going to add some fleece to some of the terry panels in the size 2 basket and finish off some other nappies I've made for babylonglegs.

Christmas Knits

Well i wasn't going to post any of my christmas knits on here in case my sister and mother saw them and therefore would know whats going to be in their christmas box from me. Then i realised that i wasn't really going to give them a link to my blog as i don't think they'd be that interested anyways lol. So here is my current wip for my sisters christmas present. It's a cabled scarf pattern from Knit Today worked in a lurverly cotton yarn. It's my first attempt at cable (i have since done a hat for Miffy) and still has a few rows to go.

Today i have an interview at 11am which i was all prepared for until AJ woke with a headache and tummy pain. After a mad panic I've managed to get the wonderful grandad to have her whilst i go to my interview as I've already had to cancel it once as i had this stupid bug last thursday (see BUM post).

Touch wood everything will run smoothly and when i get home i can do some more knitting before my sanctuary church group tonight. And hopefully AJ will feel better once her calpol has kicked in.

It's The Weekend and i'm normally at work

but, due to my foot opp i find myself not having to go and do a 9 hour shift today or tomorrow. I'm enjoying all this inforced time off work even if my foot is still sore.

Anyways this is my 4th weekend off as 14th to 16th sept was Cubcamp and then i had my opp on the 17th. But this weekend i could actually do something other than lay on the sofa with my foot up.

The morning started with getting up around 9ish and then taking Geo to Clarks to get some new school shoes. £54 later (1 pair of shoes and 1 pair of trainers) we went to church coffee morning and then came home. Since then i've managed to do something to my cd shelves which had warped. Amazing what you can do with a couple of tacks and some string. Tomorrow i'm off to church as per normal for when i'm on my sunday off which makes me hate working sundays with even more passion now. I like church in the morning and then spending time at home with everyone in the afternoon.

i've spent the rest of my time looking on ravelry and on the other forums i lurk on. I'm not used to all this spare time. I get to knit and stuff but it will all change once i'm back at work! Not sure how often i'll blog then lol.

anyways i'm waffling now so off i go to find my knitting and decide which WIP i'm going to pick up today

well i was going to start taking photos of my stash ready to add to Ravelry today but I've got a nice dose of the trots so have been mostly doing bugger all today! Oh well, I may get some knitting done tonight after i've had a nice hot bath i think.

well it's grown since this morning. Tis a really easy pattern so i may make more in different colours for christmas presents. The idea is to put a bath bomb in the middle and tie it with ribbon
